Toyo Snow Proxes S952 (Winter Tyre)
Firstly, the increased proportion of silica the rubber compound helps the tyre’s flexibility at lower temperatures. The tread of a winter tyre will usually look like the Snowprox S952 – covered in tiny grooved sipes. This helps the tyre to tap into anything on the surface that would help traction. Everything on this tyre is geared for winter driving. The blocks themselves are all different in each tread ‘column’ – they all help the tyre to grip in snowy conditions but in slightly different ways. The larger tread blocks help the tyre to stabilise the vehicle, the smaller tread blocks are angled to push snow and water away from the tyre, increasing the tyre’s resistance to aquaplaning and getting clogged with snow. A great tyre for colder temperatures.
