General Tyres

General Tire is the tyre brand of Continental Tyre North America, a subsidiary of Continental Ag. The US tyre maker has four plants in the USA, one in Mexico, as well as operations in South America, Africa and Asia. Since 1991 Continental, General Tire and the Japanese tyre companies Toyo and Yokohama, have cooperated in a joint venture, and have been making commercial vehicle tyres for the North American market.
General Tire in Europe is represented in the 4x4 and SUV sector. This American tyre producer is among the most respected veterans in the business. Founded not long after the end of the First World War in Akron, Ohio, General Tyre was the first manufacturer to think of introducing the “replacement tyre”. In its long an industrious history there is no sector of the tyre market that the brand has not been a part of: from cars, to off-road, to trucks and bikes.
A tyre that bears General Tyre’s mark is recognised as being reliable, strong and easy to handle. On one of their most recent models, the AmeriTrac - which was particularly built for driving on America's highways - their engineers added special steel belts in order to increase its safety and stability. The size, potential and prize list of Gernal Tyre - who saw a lot of its tyres chosen as original equipment for renowned car brands - drew the attention of Continental A.G., who bought the tyre manufacturer in 1987.
