Changing BMW Tyres

Changing BMW Car Tyres should require 3 primary choices:

* The overall quality of the tyre (durability, wear, ratings, cost) desired for the BMW

* The speed rating that the BMW Tyres should have depending upon the driver's average and occasional "fastest-driven" speed

* Deciding if local and/or regional weather patterns merit keeping two sets of tyres for dry vs. wet road conditions

Further, if an owner wishes to put tyres on different sized wheels for the BMW, a careful decision about what size tyres will be valid for that BMW is required. If, for example, a larger wheel size is desired, then the profile (height) and/or the width must be reduced to avoid damaging the drive train. A 195/65/15 tyre for that BMW, for instance, on a 17" rim, could legitimately become a 165/65 (narrower) or a 195/55 (shorter) but could not stay a 195/65 as before

BMW Z4 – Tyre Option, Bridgestone Potenza RE050 RFT

BMW Z4The Z4 is the newest addition to the BMW sports car family. Any vehicle that can look sporty and deliver a sporting performance will be first car choice. The Z4 is popular with males and females alike, and given its overall look and feel we reckon it will continue to grow in popularity and become an extremely successful seller for BMW for years to come. Bridgestone has supplied its Potenza RE050 RFT(run flat) tyres for the Z4 in four sizes to accommodate the different engine sizes and vehicle configurations, these tyre sizes being 225/50 R 16 92V, 225/45 R 17 91W, 225/40 R 18 88W and 255/35 R 18 90W. We would suggest the alternative tyre brand being the Continental Sport Contact M3 which is the OE fitment for the Z4 from 2006 onwards.

BMW 3 Series – Tyre Option, Bridgestone Potenza

Bridgestone, Michelin or Continental tyres on the car. Bridgestone have supplied its Potenza S03 tyres for the 3 series in a number of sizes to cover the complete range. You will also see some M3 fitments on the 3 series, as BMW have recently begun adding M3 body kits to the 3 series, including wheels and tyres. Newer models (from 2005 onwards) may be fitted with runflats such as the Continental Premium Contact SSR.The 3 series is the most popular of the BMW family. The tyre choices seem to change according to the best deal at the time.

BMW 5 Series – Tyre Option, Michelin Pilot Sport

Michelin Pilot Sport tyre on the car. The Michelin Pliot Sport is the undoubted tyre king, and on a car like this where drive quality if more important than anything else, the Michelin does its job very well. Another option for the 5 Series is the Continental Sport Contact 2 which is the manufacturer's fitment for models from 2003 onwards. The BMW 5 series has been the most popular executive seller for the BMW family in recent years. This car was voted What Car executive car of the year.

BMW M3 – Tyre Option, Continental Sport Contact M3

Continental have produced a specific tyre designed for the M3. This Tyre uses an optimum rubber compound for the drive characteristics of the BMW M3. The BMW M3 is perhaps the most famous of all sports saloons and continues to be a sought after car. Any vehicle that can combine a sporting performance and such luxury will always sit well on a Christmas list. The only downside is perhaps there is just a certain lack of feedback and feel, but despite this it continues to lead. The M3 3.2 E46 often as not comes as standard with 225/45/18 Z tyres on the front, and 255/40/18 Z tyres on the back.
